Coral Gables, FL – Ms. Estrellita S. Sibila, an associate with Weiss Serota Helfman Pastoriza Cole & Boniske, P.L., has earned the credential of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED® AP) from the United States Green Build! ing Council.
She becomes the first attorney in Miami-Dade to get the highly-regarded accreditation, only the third attorney in the State of Florida and only the 17th attorney nationwide. Ms. Sibila focuses her law practice on land use, zoning, municipal representation and green/sustainable building.
The LEED® Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings. LEED® promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five (5) key areas of human and environmental health:&nbs! p; sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
As a LEED® AP, Ms. Sibila possesses a comprehensive understanding of green building practices and principles. She has a proficient knowledge of the LEED® requirements and resources as well as the necessary experience to assist clients in navigating the certification process and the rapidly emerging governmental regulations.
Ms. Sibila understands the growing demand by municipalities and developers for expertise in the field of sustainable development. Ms. Sibila works with various municipalities in South Florida providing green building education and assisting in the creation of ordinances that promote sustainable building and development practices, including specific sustainability criteria and development incentives aimed at rewarding developers who adhere to green building guidelines and principles.
Ms. Sibila earned a B.S. degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida and a J.D. and LL.M. degree in Real Property Development from the University of Miami School of Law. Ms. Sibila was admitted to practice in Florida in 2004. |
