Tibor Hollo, founder and chairman of Florida East Coast Realty, and its partner COALCO announced they will donate the temporary use of its land in Brickell to the City to build Villa Magna Park.
This temporary public park will be located at 1201 Brickell Bay Drive. The agreement with the City coincides with Commissioner Marc Sarnoff’s initiative to add more green spaces to the city’s urban core. Hollo will also be donating benches and walkways to the park, which will also feature a dog park. The City of Miami anticipates opening the park by March 2009.

A press conference with Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, Commissioner Marc Sarnoff, City Manager Pete Hernandez, and Hollo was held recently to formally unveil the plans for the park.
“The City and its residents should be given the opportunity to enjoy a clean, safe environment for leisure, especially considering the site would otherwise be vacant,” stated Mr. Hollo. “On behalf of my company, we are pleased to be able to contribute to an improved quality of life and enhanced green spaces and create an interim solution while the city seeks out a site for a permanent park.”
A well-known philanthropist, Mr. Hollo founded FECR 55 years ago and has since built 55 million square feet of landmark residential, commercial, industrial, and governmental properties and marinas. FECR is currently developing 2020 Ponce, a premier office condominium in downtown Coral Gables, and has recently completed and closed the luxury condominium Opera Tower.
