The Florida Department of Transportation today announced that it will not close the deal on the Port of Miami Tunnel project; a public private partnership between the Department, Miami-Dade County, the City of Miami, and Miami Access Tunnel (MAT).

“This is a disappointment to all of us. The Port of Miami Tunnel is an important project not only for Miami, but for all of South Florida. It is in times of economic hardships that these types of projects are so important, as they generate thousands of jobs and revitalize cities. This is why the City of Miami has worked hard to see this project come to fruition. However, without the financial support of the FDOT, the project cannot move forward,” said Mayor Manny Diaz.
