Bike Miami on Sunday,
November 9, 2008
10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Bayfront Park and Downtown Miami


Join Mayor of the City of Miami Manny Diaz for Bike Miami, an initiative by Mayor Diaz to promote bicycling, livable streets and the growing urban neighborhood of Downtown Miami, on Sunday, November 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will close Flagler Street from the Courthouse to Bayfront Park, as well as South Miami Avenue from 10th Street (Mary Brickell Village) to SE 4th Street and then north on 1st Ave to Flagler, allowing pedestrians, cyclists and skaters to explore downtown in a fun, safe and completely free way. Stores, restaurants, parks and cafés will be open and there will be many free activities for the whole family to enjoy. Mayor Diaz also invites the public to join him for a special rally at 11 am on the corner of Biscayne Boulevard and Flagler Street.

Participants are encouraged to ride Metrobus, Metrorail, and Metromover to Bike Miami for free with bicycles. For more information, visit http://bikemiami.blogspot.com.

Downtown Concert Series

12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m., Downtown Miami

November 14th will mark the start of something melodic. For the first time in many years, Downtown Miami will host its own Concert Series, presented by the Miami Downtown Development Authority (DDA). Performances will run monthly from November 2008 through April 2009 at several locations around Downtown. A variety of artists representing different music genres will participate in this series, which is free and open to the public.

To kick off the series, Grammy nominated percussionist Sammy Figueroa will perform at the start of the two-day street fair of the Miami International Book Fair in association with Miami Dade College.  The concert will take place Friday, November 14th with shows at 12:30pm and 4:00pm, at the International Food Plaza adjacent to the College/Bayside Metromover Station on the corner of NE 2nd Ave and NE 3rd St.

The Downtown Concert Series is made possible through a partnership between Miami DDA and The Rhythm Foundation. For more information, please visit www.miamidda.com.

Come out and Meet Your Neighbors on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at Mary Brickell Village, where residents, businesses and employees of Downtown Miami will network, enjoy live music, eat, drink, participate in drawings, and receive discounts from nearby retailers.
