Traveling Art Exhibit Tells Candid Stories of Pain and Healing Miami, FL - Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle, in collaboration with Verizon Wireless of Florida and Safespace, will host the Verizon Wireless of Florida Clothesline Project commencing today, June 24th, through July 11th.
Artistically expressive T-shirts that hang on a makeshift clothesline and tell emotional stories of abuse and healing by women, children and even men who have been affected by domestic violence, will be on display in the lobby of the E.R. Graham Building located at 1350 N.W. 12th Avenue in Miami. Local community leaders and a domestic violence survivor impacted by this devastating social issue will be on hand to discuss the destructive effects of domestic violence on our local community.
In addition to hosting the Clothesline Project, the State Attorney’s Office will collect used and broken cell phones which will be refurbished and distributed to victims of domestic violence in the local community through Verizon Wireless’ HopeLine® program.
“The only way to end the scourge of domestic violence is for all of us to be involved in the effort. Not everyone can directly intervene as is done by law enforcement or by my prosecutors in court. But a small commitment, like donating an old cell phone to be an emergency safeguard, can save someone’s life”, commented State Attorney Fernandez Rundle. “All of the small steps we take together can quickly turn into a giant leap forward.” |
