Oxemberg fine hosts private exhibition by photographer Massimo Vitali PDF Imprimir E-mail
01.05.2008

Harvey Oxenberg, an esteemed local art dealer, hosted a private event featuring the photography of world-renowned Italian photographer Massimo Vitali. Oxenberg opened his home, a Coconut Grove, Florida, designed by the preeminent architect Alfred Browning Parker —to over 100 art patrons for the evening. In addition to art, the event featured informal modeling with designs by Luca Luca.

Among the who’s who of guests were Dwayne Wade Sr., whose charity, Prop Pops will be the recipient of a percentage of proceeds from the sale of photographs; and Marcus Andrews, vice president of Wade Global LLC, the umbrella company for Dwayne Wade’s enterprises.

Massimo Vitali, who was in Italy that evening, began his career in the early sixties as a photojournalist collaborating with many magazines and agencies in Italy and in Europe. He expanded his art into cinematography but the relationship with the still camera never ceased and developed a new approach in portraying the world: photography seen as an expression of contemporary art.

His work is on display in every major museum around the world from the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid to The Guggenheim in New York to the Fond National Art Contemporaine in Paris; and he participates in major art fairs including Art Basel.

Harvey Oxenberg is originally from New York and has been in Miami since 1959. After attending the University of Miami he joined his father’s wholesale seafood business. Over the years, he grew the company and subsequently sold it in 2005.
An avid art collector since 1982, Oxenberg spent his leisure time collecting contemporary art and acquainting himself with dealers, gallerists and artists by visiting collections, galleries and auctions around the world. Oxenberg Fine Art represents a select group of contemporary artists, creating paintings, sculptures and photography. The collection is located at 3003 Seminole St., Coconut Grove, FL 33133.
