The Miami Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and The Downtown Miami Partnership (DMP) recently hosted the sixth in a series of events called Meet Your Neighbors for Downtown Miami residents and those interested in learning about the revitalization of Downtown.
The series was launched in October 2006 and has proven to be ever popular not only with the neighborhood’s newly growing residential base, but also with Downtown businesses, employees, and area aficionados.
Nearly 300 attendees, joined by several Miami DDA Board members, enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres at Il Gabbiano, an Italian restaurant located at One Miami in the heart of downtown. The event was also sponsored by The Continental Group, Florida’s leading property management and maintenance service firm.
“There is a great deal of inquisitiveness that gets satiated at these mixers,” said Davon Barbour, economic development manager, Miami DDA. “People want to know who is new to the area and how they can take advantage of all that Downtown now offers. The events continue to generate interest and support both organizations’ missions to integrate and reinvigorate Downtown and its constituents.”
The Downtown Miami Partnership was founded in 1977 and is a non-profit community based organization representing Downtown Miami property owners, professionals, retailers, bankers, hoteliers, restaurateurs, and residents who are committed to improving the quality of life, business climate, and the general awareness of Downtown Miami by way of events, beautification projects, and marketing. For more information, please call (305) 379-7070.
The Miami DDA is a public-private, non-profit business organization that strives to develop Miami's downtown area. The organization, founded in 1965, is governed by a 15-member Board comprised of three (3) public appointees and twelve (12) downtown property owners, residents and / or workers.
Through its own programs and services and partnership with the City of Miami and other governmental entities, Miami DDA is dedicated to making Downtown a more livable community and improving the quality of life for employers, employees, residents, property owners, and visitors.
