Miami, FL - Miami-Dade County State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle in conjunction with community partners from the City of Miami and Miami-Dade Police Departments, Miami-Dade Weed and Seed, and the Belafonte Tacolcy Center, will host a block party this Friday, March 21st, from 6:00 to 10:00 PM, at.
The Good Friday event, a family-oriented block party aimed at encouraging the community to “take back their streets” and to promote goodwill between our local police and the residents of Liberty City, will be held at the Belafonte Tacolcy Center located at 6161 NW 9th Avenue in Liberty City.
Some of the scheduled activities include 3 on 3 basketball teams and performances by Christian R & B vocalist “God’s Baby Girl”. Several community agencies such as The Village South/ SISTA Program, the Department of Children and Families, Americorp/VISTA, Legal Services of Greater Miami, and the Community Outreach Program of the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office will set up booths with free information on the services they provide. There will also be food, music, and face painting for the children.
