Miami, FL - On Saturday, February 2nd, the second “Do For Self” Empowerment Seminar hosted by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office was held at the North Dade Regional Library in the City of Miami Gardens. The seminar was highly successful with 20 women in attendance, double the number who attended the initial seminar.
Presenters included Sonia Jacobson from Suited for Success, Martin and Antoinette Clark from One World Learning Center, and prosecutor Melba Pearson from the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office.
Representatives from Health South provided the participants with valuable information regarding the importance of acquiring health insurance. Other topics discussed included how to select a child-care facility as well as tips for successful job interviews and for maintaining steady employment. At the close of the event, Shareeke Edmead from Commissioner Barbara Jordan's office addressed the women with strong words of encouragement.
Each participant will receive a dress suit courtesy of the non-profit organization Suited for Success.
Based on the overwhelming positive feedback received from the attendees, a follow-up seminar is already being planned for the month of September in the Overtown area. For signup and additional information, please call 305-636-2240. |
