Miami, FL--Harvey Oxenberg, an esteemed local art dealer, recently hosted the Florida debut of Joseph Wheelwright’s sculptures. The upscale event was held in association with Allan Stone Gallery, where the artist is represented in New York.
Oxenberg opened his Coconut Grove estate—and now home of Oxenberg Fine Art—to 150 art patrons for the evening. Oxenberg committed to donating 10% of sales from the exhibition, to the Miami Art Museum (MAM).
While viewing the recent stone and wood sculptures by the Boston-based artist, guests enjoyed a full bar and light dinner. Oxenberg’s extensive private collection was also on display for guests’ perusal.
"The jungle garden setting here is nothing like Boston," said Wheelwright. "What a beautiful, lavish, and fragrant evening for an exhibition. My work is perfectly situated in this environment."
Joseph Wheelwright is a master carver of stones, trees, bones, and other natural materials. He lives and works in Boston and Vermont, where he maintains a foundry for casting his tree personages into bronze.
