“DO FOR SELF” Empowerment Program comes to Miami Gardens |

Miami, FL- Miami-Dade County State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle is proud to announce the second workshop of the “Do For Self” Empowerment Program. This new program is part of the State Attorney’s Community Prosecution Program and is geared towards helping women learn the skills required to re-enter the workforce.
This one- day class will be held at the North Dade Regional Library located at 2455 N.W. 183rd Street in Miami Gardens on Saturday, February 2nd, 2008 from 10:00-2:00 PM. The class will include career changing information conducted by prosecutors from the State Attorney’s Office in conjunction with community partners Suited For Success, Oshu’n Movement, Embrace Girls, and Legal Services of Greater Miami.
The event, coordinated by Assistant State Attorney Melba Pearson, will include representatives from the corporate and banking industry. The women will receive vital financial information regarding credit and financial pitfalls, and tips on how to resolve on-the-job disputes and achieve success in the workplace. The attendees will be assisted with job placement opportunities and each participant will be outfitted with a suit and accessories by Suited for Success.
The first “Do For Self” seminar was held in September of last year and attended by 10 women. The seminar’s sponsors include the Community Prosecution Unit of the State Attorney’s Office, the Office of Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan, and The Embrace Girls Foundation.
